This week I spoke in a debate on the refugee crisis in Ukraine. Since the start of the invasion, it has been estimated that 4.2 million people have been forcibly displaced. This includes 2.8 million refugees who have fled to other countries. There have also been an estimated 1.85 million people internally displaced.
In the debate I wanted the Government to hear the stories that many of my constituent have relayed to me regarding how many of their friends and relatives have held up coming to the UK due to administrative delays.
I also asked if the Home Office would commit to introducing emergency protection visas for those fleeing Ukraine who want to reach the UK. The Government made no such commitment.

Yesterday I put on record the experiences of my constituents who have family and friends in Ukraine.
The @ukhomeoffice must do more to make sure that those who are fleeing war are not left waiting for weeks to seek refuge in the UK. pic.twitter.com/W6VgZdmxRQ
