The Chancellor of the Exchequer recently brought forward his Budget for the financial year from 2022-2023. It was yet another disappointing Tory budget which made no attempts to tackle poverty and deprivation – instead only rewarding the rich and helping them get richer.
The Chancellor’s proudest policy was easing taxes on alcoholic drinks, as well as domestic flights. At a time when we are hosting the historic COP26 summit in the UK, he made no mention of the climate crisis!
I challenged him on this pathetic offering which does not give what constituents in Lewisham East need or deserve. Watch my speech in full here.
In case you missed it: This week I challenged the Chancellor of the Exchequer on the useless #Budget he has brought forward, which prioritises trivial issues over global issues. Not a single mention of the climate as we headed into hosting #COP26 ! 🙄 pic.twitter.com/LGTgri4CBG
