On Wednesday MPs backed Jeremy Corbyn’s motion to declare a Climate Emergency and I was pleased to contribute to this debate.

The focus of my speech was on air quality, which in many areas of our community still falls below legal limits put in place to protect us. In many cases it is our children and young people who are raising the alarm, from Greta Thunburg and Extinction Rebellion to the children at Torridon School who have recently written to me about climate change.

It is time we took notice and time we took action. In my speech I urged the Government to declare a climate emergency and immediately begin legislating for a net zero emissions target.

See my speech below.
