I was proud to stand side by side with family, friends and Lewisham Labour members today to demonstrate our support for a People’s Vote.
We are now in a position where this Government is asking us to choose between no deal and a bad deal for Britain.
I said during my election campaign that I would never vote to make my constituents poorer and I believe that is what Brexit threatens to do to our community. It would disproportionately affect those who are already worse off.
It is therefore imperative that those communities have a say on the final terms of the Brexit deal.
This is not about frustrating Brexit, it is about ensuring the people can shape the process and make a final, informed decision based on a known quantity.
