I’ve continued to campaign to make sure that the Government does everything to protect constituents from the public health and economic impacts of Covid-19.
Businesses can and must be a force for good in protecting people through the pandemic. That’s why I’m pleased to back the Covid-19 Business Pledge, and am calling on businesses active in Lewisham East to sign up.
I wrote to the Prime Minister with Taiwo Owatemi MP to urge the Government to extend emergency support to those whose immigration status means they otherwise have No Recourse to Public Funds. With Rushanara Ali MP, I also called on the PM to do much more to lead the global response in poorer countries where millions of the world’s most marginalised people will be hit the hardest by Covid-19.
As always, me and my team have handled numerous queries from constituents and stood up for them, whether writing to the Chancellor to call for emergency help to stop local dental practices going under or urging the Health Secretary to remove the red tape that is blocking retired doctors in Lewisham returning to work.
