Today in Parliament I spoke against the Prime Minister’s botched Brexit deal and advocated for a People’s Vote.

It is clear that this deal does not come close to replicating the benefits we already enjoy. Even the Chancellor has conceded that all forms of Brexit would make us worse off. As it stands myself and Labour colleagues intend to vote against it.

If the Agreement does not get through Parliament, we will need a clear vision of how we are to move forward. In my view it is irresponsible to narrow our options to Theresa May’s bad deal and a disastrous no deal.

For my part, I intend to keep supporting the People’s Vote campaign to ensure the public can have a meaningful say on the final terms of Brexit. I believe this is the only way to break the deadlock.

This is not about frustrating Brexit. It is about ensuring the people can shape the process and make a final, informed decision based on a known quantity.
