Many constituents have written to me regarding the duty on beer. I have pledged my support to the Long Live the Local Campaign to help pubs in Lewisham East keep their doors open.
24 pubs and one brilliant brewery in Lewisham East are a dynamic part of our local economy. They support nearly 471 jobs, pay £7.7m in wages and contribute over double that to the economy. They should be celebrated and protected.
But with three British pubs closing their doors for good every day the Government should consider a cut to beer tax at the Budget.
